SABO34: THE ESTRANGED- SUBLIMAN MAN LP
Past and present members of Portland hardcore mainstays such as Remains Of The Day, Hellshock, Warcry, Lebenden Toten, etc pull a 180 and dish out ten tracks of icy, ominous postpunk.
Since their last release, The Estranged have dialed back the explicit aggression of their early singles a bit, and dialed up the textured, atmospheric, layered sounds of prime 80s deathrock/postpunk. A little less US influence, a little more UK. A little less Wipers, a little more Cure/Chameleons UK/Joy Division, etc.
The Subliminal Man was painstakingly, impeccably recorded at Type Foundry Studios in Portland and features 8 new ones, a re-recording of ''Statue In A Room'' (originally released as a split 7'' with Autistic Youth) and a rather stunning cover of The Flys’ 1978 classic ''Love And A Molotov Cocktail''. Driving, melodic punk/hardcore (but NOT melodic hardcore if ya get the distinction) with dark, swirling undercurrents. Catchy but not at all vapid. Sounding like a cross between Portland, Southern California, and Copenhagen, you could compare this to bands like THE OBSERVERS, NO HOPE FOR THE KIDS, REAGAN YOUTH, or ADOLESCENTS,

Me and Michl at TAKEN BY SURPRISE RECORDS started a blog where we offer our releases for free download, of course as long as the bands are cool with that. We are talking about whole records on mp3 here, not just snippets or some shit like that. This album came out of left field and knocked me out of my boots when I heard it the first time... and still does. Powerpop and punk blended together just perfectly. first of all, i started screen printing some shirts with my friend ARMSROCK, a great artist from denmark..
the shirt is called.. "death's finger is freelance". This is the first edition of shirts we are doing together..
they are all limited to 50 pieces . no more. each with unique mistakes.

autistic youth..the record is called landmine beach ..this is a cooperation with my friend
michel´s label taken by surprise records.www.myspace.com/takenbysurpriserecords . the record
comes with a new silkscreend cover, different then the original one.. the covers are printed,
we are just waiting for the master, to send it to the pressing plant.. the band will tour europe
in june/july together with masshysteri from sweden..
there will be also a tour seven inch..but more later

finally the vinyl version from the Polite Sleeper Debut Cd is out..
its an one sided 12" and it looks pretty nice...
just got the recordings from the upcoming album..sounds great..
will be send to the pressing plant this week..
the cd version will be ready soon..

Polite Sleeper is the new folk punk, experimental side-project from Jason
(guitar) and Tim (drums) of The Yellow Press (Day After). Pretty crazy stuff at times,
but the songs are simple and sweet – all about missing one thing or another, about the
new challenges and new relationships since moving from San Francisco to Brooklyn, NY nearly
two years ago.
More important, PS is a punk band. They’re 100% DIY, choosing to record in living rooms
and kitchens, exclusively. They keep traffic noise and dead notes as reminders of that,
and stay true by playing basements and warehouses, even proper clubs where they don’t
quite belong, but take the chance at meeting like minds anyway. They believe it and you should too.

Japanther are touring in february together with vortex rex from vienna…the new record should be out by then.
It will be a collaboration between sabotage and the nice folks from altin village records…

Young widows are touring the us and will record a new record..i´m waiting for the artwork for the split
